Learning Outcomes 5 and 6

For this essay, we had to use two articles and bring them into a conversation and show which side we leaned towards more. For this Essay I chose to compare the article Can Planet Earth Feed 10 Billion People? by Charles C. Mann, and Out of the Kitchen, Onto the Couch by Michael Pollen. In this Essay above, I had to add quotes from both sources to support my evidence and back up my facts and I had to make sure to properly cite my sources when I used them. I can’t just put their quotes in my paper and not address who said them or whose they were. The whole essay was written in MLA format which means that I had in-text citations and a citations page at the end of my paper. I had to make sure to cite the courses at the end in MLA format and not another type. The paper also begins with a heading including your name, your professors name, the class you are taking and the date.

The draft of paper 2 shows how my paper was written before I had it peer reviewed and finished. You can see at the bottom of my paper that I had written down a few quotes that I thought were interesting or that I was thinking about using in my paper. I also put a few words in bold that were ideas that I could incorporate into my essay if I was stuck or needed more to write about. Seeing this draft of my essay shows how I used the revisions and peer review to make my paper better and fix little mistakes. Some of my sentences didn’t flow as well as they could and after re-reading and having my peers look over my work I was able to fix my wording to make them less confusing to read.
